Michael established Duquesne University’s flagship campus in Rome, Italy and has been the Director in Rome since the first year of the program (2001). He was instrumental in the development and opening of the Duquesne in Dublin program in Ireland and has been the director of the center since its inception (2013). Michael's vision helped in the creation, coordination, and implementation of new and successful short-term summer study abroad programs in Europe and Africa, including Italy, Ireland, Ghana, and Tanzania.
Michael and is team developed the Intercultural Awareness cornerstone course series at Duquesne University and co-teaches the course in Rome. He is an active member of AACUPI (American Association of College and University Programs in Italy), EUASA (European Association of Study Abroad), The Forum on Education Abroad, the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), and is a Friend of the American Academy of Rome.
Michael has a B.A. from Duquesne University in Spanish an M.A. from St. Louis University (Madrid) in Spanish Literature and an M.A. from Graceland University in Theology, with a focus in Peace and Justice Studies. He is fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish and is a dual citizen of the United States and Italy.
